Manta Dive

divers with manta.JPG (96044 bytes)   Easily one of the highlights of any person’s diving career. This is not a normal night dive by any means. It all begins with divers congregating on the bottom in an area where the mantas come to feed. The divers bring with them large bright lights and on a busy night it almost seems that you’re in an underwater lighted town. All this light draws the plankton in which in turn brings the mantas in to feed. This is when the fun  begins. The mantas come in doing loops and flips scooping up the balls of plankton in front of the divers. Up to a dozen mantas have been recorded in one night.  How close do these graceful animals come to the divers?............... So closeYumi with two mantas.JPG (117221 bytes) that we have you remove your snorkel before entering the water so the mantas don’t rub their stomachs on them when cruising overhead. This is definitely a top ten dive of a life time.
